Now a days, I really believe in the saying “Time flies so Fast.” You would not notice that the first week of my second year in Assumption Iloilo had gone by like a wind in the beach. I can say, it was a great week. Day one started its greatness. When I entered my school last June 7, I was quite shy. I didn’t go outside my car first. I searched for my friends or even my classmates last school year but I haven’t seen one. So, I stayed in my car, fixed my hair and waited for my friends. I waited and waited for about 20 mins inside but I saw no one but other year level learners. I patiently remained in my car. When I went down already, I was very in high spirits to see my clique. I went to them and hugged each one of them because we really haven’t seen each other for about 2 months while waiting for my other best friends. I was blissful to hear that they were all okay and enjoyed their summer but bad news came when we went inside the St. Anne’s Hall. It was that moment when we knew that we would be separated from each other and only 4 of us, from our group, was in St. Catherine and others were all strangers. I meant, yes, I know them in name but not from top to bottom. When we finally went to our respective classrooms, my first reaction was “Ohhh my. Who are these people?!” I really don’t know some of my classmates know because we weren’t classmates last year and for some, I knew them with their first names but not in manners and etc. I wanted to cry at first because I really don’t know them and in Filipino, hindi ko talaga sila “feel”. I don’t know why but I truly can’t feel comfortable with them. But I tried my best to get to know them. Second day came. It was still the “get to know you” day. It’s really hard for me and my other best friends to adjust to our new sections. It’s difficult to adjust to our new classroom, to our new classmates who we will spend our 10 months together. I find it easy for me to adjust to my new class adviser because Mr. Guintivano and Mrs. Sardua is kinda like the same. The way they talk and etcetera. The best thing I like most about Sir is his very happy disposition and his always smiling face. Second day, we chosen our new set of class officers and I was one of them. I was elected as our class secretary. Good thing that my assistant was also my good friend since grade 3 so, with no trouble, we got along with each other. We had our whole level mixing after recess and we had fun. For all of us, we took advantage of our mixing to get together again as Gabriel, Micheal and Raphael but also cooperated with the games and activities. In the afternoon, we had our Student’s Hour and really had fun. The LCBA really provided us with great games and really ensured that we had fun even if we ourselves didn’t play. Third day came. It was the first day that we finally met our subject facilitators and got to know them once more. We took part in games and assigned groups. Fourth day entered and exited smoothly. A number of of our subject facilitators already gave us their first lessons and had our regular class however there are several that we first oriented with the subject. It was like yesterday that we just met our new sections but when Friday came, it was like we knew each other and been with one another for more than three months already. I widened my circle of friends and made new ones. I can say that I am already “close” with others even though we’re not classmates last year. Friday went with a bang. We played a game with Mr. Secular and it was indeed amusing and as well, let us learned things about others. Before we went home, Mr. Guintivano talked to us about our misunderstanding with our facilitator. It was really a great misapprehension because we didn’t really understand the side of our teacher. So when Sir conversed to us about this matter, we realized it was our mistake. I can’t blame this on one classmate because I believe that the fault of one is the fault of all for the reason that we are one as a section. So, we express regret for that mistake we have made. This week gave me so many realizations that can change me for the better. One is that you should understand first the side of a person before judging him or her because as we all know, all our judgements are not always exact and sometimes, these can lead to nuisance and misunderstandings. Next, we should always be open to all and sundry so that we can expand our circle of friends. We should also know others before judging them because not all first impressions are correct and we should not judge others with their physical appearances. Lastly, we should always make a good first impression because most impressions last a lifetime. Now, with all these learnings and experiences, I can say that my first week in school was indeed fun and unforgettable.
